AGIP OSO are high quality lubricants designed to be used as functional fluids in hydraulic systems and systems of all kinds. They are formulated with highly refined paraffinic bases with additives according to the "low zinc" technology in order to obtain excellent thermal, oxidative and hydrolytic stability.
The products are available in numerous viscosity grades capable of satisfying all practical use requirements. (OSO 15 and 22 ISO-L-FD classification; OSO 22-150 ISO-L-HM classification).
PROPERTY AND PERFORMANCE
The AGIP OSO in addition to allowing the transmission of energy in systems that require their use as functional fluids also provide for the lubrication of all the moving parts present in the hydraulic circuit itself. They create a film of lubricant resistant to the considerable stresses that occur between the sliding surfaces, especially in the most stressed parts of high hydrostatic pressure hydraulic systems.
AGIP OSO are endowed with remarkable anti-wear properties as highlighted by the results of the technological tests: o the wear of the vanes and of the Vickers pump ring is around 35 mg; o the 12th stage in the FZG test is passed from the higher grades (OSO 46 - 150) and the 11th from the lower grades.
They are endowed with excellent resistance to oxidation and aging even when subjected to considerable thermal stresses: therefore they counteract the formation of sludge and deposits, prevent the clogging of ducts, valves and regulation organs, maintain adequate fluidity, maintenance costs and can be kept in operation for a long time.
AGIP OSO also have a high thermal stability allowing their use in compact (closed) circuits operating at high temperatures and high pressures without causing deposits.
The high hydrolytic stability minimizes the formation of sludge and corrosive phenomena in the presence of water.
The high viscosity index of all grades of AGIP OSO has the effect of minimizing variations in oil viscosity as the operating temperature varies. Their use therefore guarantees constant performance and pressure drops and protection against possible cavitation phenomena.
The products are characterized by a low pour point that allows easy starting of the hydraulic systems even at low ambient temperatures without the occurrence of circulation and regulation problems.
The particular anti-corrosive and anti-rust power of AGIP OSO prevents oxidation of the internal surfaces of the circuits and avoids operating problems and oil degradation due to the metal oxides that would form inside the circuits themselves.
The remarkable demulsiveness of the products opposes the formation of stable emulsions between the oil itself and the water coming from leaks or condensations and prevents the consequent degradation of the lubricating and anti-corrosive properties of the hydraulic fluid.
The relevant antifoam properties and the ability to release the retained air prevent operating problems of the pumps and other components due to flow irregularities and other problems caused by the compressibility of the air bubbles.
They are characterized by a very high filterability capacity and allow the use, in hydraulic circuits, of filters with very narrow porosity (3 microns up to ISO 68 grading).
APPLICATIONS
AGIP OSO are suitable for use in hydrodynamic energy transmission systems, hydraulic controls and hydrostatic systems, equipment widespread in all fields of technology, from transport to the construction, mining, chemical and metallurgical industries, to mechanical processing, to the navy, the air force, etc ... Given the great influence of viscosity on the performance of hydraulic systems, the choice between the numerous grades available must be made basically on the basis of the manufacturers' requirements. As a purely indicative, it can be said that, in addition to the considerations relating to the thermal operating conditions, the more fluid gradations are generally used in plants where high speeds occur and in precision equipment, while the more viscous grades are used in plants in which occur at low speeds and high hydrostatic pressures. The use of AGIP OSO is recommended not only as a hydraulic fluid, but also as a lubricant for those demanding applications (bearings, reducers, etc.) whose operating needs can be satisfied by their particular anti-wear characteristics, or in those cases in which is convenient in relation to the need for unification within an entire establishment
